Which office hears your case
Oxnard — 1901 N. Rice Avenue, Suite 200, (805) 485-2533.
Parking is free, in a large lot. Gold Coast Transit serves the area. And this office asks for advance notice on emergency matters — call rather than appearing.
What this county's work does
One of California's most significant agricultural regions, alongside a substantial coastal and industrial economy.
Agriculture and field work · Food processing and packing · Warehouse and cold storage · Truck driving · Construction · Healthcare · Landscaping · Hospitality · Manufacturing · Staffing agency placements — the norm rather than the exception in agriculture and packing.
The two issues that recur
Heat. Field and packing work runs against 8 CCR § 3395 — shade above 80°F, high-heat procedures at 95°F, with agriculture a named industry — and indoor packing and cold storage has been covered by § 3396 since July 23, 2024. No presumption exists; AB 1336 was vetoed October 15, 2025. Heat illness claims.
Pesticides. California requires pesticide use reporting, producing a public record of what was applied, where, and when. In an exposure claim that record is unusually strong evidence, and almost nobody requests it. Chemical exposure claims.
And two coverage points
Cash payment does not remove you from the system. § 3357 presumes anyone rendering service for another is an employee, and the burden is on the business.
Immigration status does not affect eligibility.
