Enter your trips above. Every mile to treatment, therapy, the pharmacy, or a medical-legal exam is reimbursable — at the rate in effect on the date you traveled, not your date of injury. The tool applies the correct rate to each trip, including across 2026's mid-year change. Free, nothing is saved, works on a phone.
The rule most pages get wrong
The rate is set by the date of travel. California changed the rate mid-year in 2026: 72.5¢ from January 1 and 76¢ from July 1. A trip in August 2026 reimburses at 76¢ even on a 2019 claim — the opposite of the temporary disability rule, where the date of injury controls forever. Every rate with its source.
The right comes from Labor Code § 4600(e)(2), at the rate set under Government Code § 19820 for state employees — DWC announces each change by Newsline. Parking and bridge tolls are reimbursable on top of the mileage.
Late mileage is a penalty, not a shrug
Mileage is "compensation." A delay in paying it can support a Labor Code § 5814 penalty — up to 25% or up to $10,000, whichever is less — and the two-year penalty deadline runs from when the payment was due. Submit the log in writing, dated, and keep a copy. How penalties work.
The most common error is the missing log
Trips to the pharmacy count. Every physical therapy visit counts. The QME trip counts — and for an employer-requested examination, § 4600(e) provides transportation, meals, and lodging, with the mileage payable when you are notified of the appointment. Ask each provider's front desk for a printout of your visit dates; it is evidence. Mileage and travel reimbursement, in full.

Rate figures carry the effective date that governs them. Temporary disability is set by date of injury; medical mileage by date of travel.
