Law Offices of Solov & Teitell, APC has practiced California workers' compensation in Los Angeles since 1965.
Not a billboard firm, and not a settlement mill.
What sixty years actually buys you
Not much, by itself. Plenty of old firms are coasting. What it should buy is judgment about which fights are worth having, and the answer to that question is different in workers' compensation than in most areas of law, because the system is built to make small fights uneconomical and large ones slow.
What we think it buys here:
Knowing where the money actually is. The rating string, not the settlement conversation. The § 4656(c)(3) counter, not the demand letter. The 240 weeks nobody claimed, the automatic 10% nobody added, the § 4553 petition that expired at twelve months while everyone was managing treatment.
Knowing when the answer is genuinely bad. A shoulder that rates zero rates zero. Telling someone that early is worth more than telling them late.
And knowing the courtrooms. Which office, which parking lot, which security desk, what happens at a conference, what is remote and what is not. All thirteen of them.
How we work
What happens after you call. The first call takes about fifteen minutes. We ask what happened, what has been paid, and what has stopped. You sign nothing until we recommend it, and if you tell us what happened through the form instead, a person calls you back within one business day.
If you cannot come to us, we come to you. When a client cannot physically get to the Olympic Boulevard office, an attorney from this firm goes to the client's home, hospital room, or rehabilitation facility. That is not a courtesy line; it is how a substantial part of the intake in a serious-injury practice actually happens.
Jamey Teitell is the trial attorney and the reviewing attorney. He handles the workers' compensation practice and personally reviews every article published on this site.
We work in English, Spanish, and Korean, with attorneys and staff fluent in each — not a translation line, and not a promise that someone will find an interpreter later.
Free consultation. No fee unless we recover, and the fee is set by a workers' compensation judge rather than by us — generally 9% to 15% of what is recovered. You are not responsible for costs we advance if there is no recovery. How that works.

Home and hospital visits. If you cannot come to us, say so when you call.
Our standard for what we publish
This site is a reference work, and it is held to a stated standard:
Every statute, regulation, case, and number is verified against a primary source before publication. Not against another law firm's page, and not against a summary.
Where the law is unsettled, we say so. Where an argument is contested rather than established, we label it as an argument rather than as an entitlement.
Every substantive page carries a reviewing attorney and a review date, and the review date means the page was actually re-read on that date.
When we get something wrong, we correct it visibly rather than quietly, and we leave a note saying what changed. See Corrections for what has been changed and how to report an error.
We do not publish unsourced ratings, unattributed testimonials, or awards we cannot link to.
