Which office hears your case

Bakersfield1800 30th Street, Suite 100, (661) 395-2723. Free parking, ample, in the building lot.

Three local rules, and one of them matters enormously if you do not have a lawyer:

No calendar on Mondays.

Walk-through documents due by noon the day before — unlike every other office in the system.

And visitors wait in the lobby to be escorted through the security door by counsel or staff. An unrepresented worker cannot get past the lobby alone. Call in advance and arrange an escort. Do not simply arrive.

What this county's work does

One of California's most significant agricultural and energy regions.

Heat and pesticides

Kern County summers are among the most severe in the state.

8 CCR § 3395 requires shade above 80°F and high-heat procedures at 95°F, with agriculture, construction, and oil and gas extraction all named industries. Indoor packing and processing has been covered by § 3396 since July 23, 2024.

There is no heat illness presumption — AB 1336 was vetoed October 15, 2025. Heat illness claims.

And pesticide use reporting produces a public record of what was applied, where, and when. Chemical exposure claims.

One case worth knowing

Vigil v. County of Kern (2024, WCAB en banc) came out of this county, and it matters in how multiple impairments are combined into a single rating. How permanent disability ratings are built.
